Burleigh Elementary School has been recognized as a Wisconsin School of Recognition by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) for the 2024-25 school year, an honor that highlights the school’s strong commitment to student growth and academic achievement.
Burleigh earned this distinction in the High Achieving & High Progress categories, which recognizes Title I schools demonstrating consistently high levels of academic performance, measurable progress in student growth and reducing achievement gaps. This distinction is based on a rigorous set of criteria, including academic performance, measurable progress in student growth or graduation rates, reducing achievement gaps - particularly among students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
“We are incredibly proud of our students and staff for their commitment to excellence,” said Burleigh Elementary Principal Christian Pleister. “This recognition reflects the hard work and support of our entire school community - including educators, families, and students.”
The Wisconsin Schools of Recognition program celebrates schools that are helping all students succeed, with a focus on those who have historically faced additional challenges. Burleigh’s recognition underscores the collective efforts of its staff and community to create an environment where every student can thrive.
“This honor speaks to the dedication of our educators and the resilience of our students,” said Elmbrook Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark Hansen. “Burleigh continues to set a strong example of what’s possible when a school community is united around student success.”
